Blue Box Program
As of this January, the cost of recycling will be paid by the companies who produced the disposable materials to start with, saving Ontario’s townships $200 million dollars in maintenance fees. Because you and your township no longer pay for the cost of recycling your waste, what qualifies as recycling is no longer decided by your township and that means you will need to check what you can and can’t recycle now.
The Government of Ontario has worked with a non-profit company called Circular Materials Ontario to create a standardized list agreed upon by the paying corporations. This list now applies to your recycling no matter where in Ontario you live.
Circular Materials Ontario has also agreed to supply residents of Ontario with an additional blue bin to replace the now-discontinued yellow bin. Follow this link to apply. Because this is run through Circular Materials Ontario, Topps will not deliver this new blue bin. However, Topps will hold the blue bin for pick up at our transfer station.
If you want to know how to dispose of a specific product or material, enter your waste type and your location in SortMyTrash search engine and find out where, when and how to safely dispose of it using Topps’ own databank.
